Sarah Himmelstein, LMSW
Therapist
My name is Sarah, and I am a warm and compassionate LMSW. I received my Master of Social Work from the University of Connecticut with a concentration in Individual, Group, and Family practice. My passion lies in supporting young people to grow towards improved mental health, relationships, and overall well-being. I have professional experience working in schools and intensive outpatient clinical settings providing individual, group, and family therapy. I also have experience working withneurodiverse populations and folks with developmental disabilities.
As a client-centered therapist, I incorporate many theories and modalities such as psychoeducation, social skills, systems theory, play therapy techniques, CBT and DBT, mindfulness, attachment work, and nervous system regulating tools. I approach my work with a trauma-informed lens and with awareness of the impact of complex trauma and systemic forms of oppression in our lives on a conscious and unconscious level. I value the various identities and backgrounds of the people I work with, creating a space of non-judgment and relational safety from which deeper insight can be gained and transformation can be made. My style is playful, intuitive, flexible, and enthusiastic. I hope to support the young people and families I work with towards a deeper knowing that they “make sense” and offer a therapeutic experience and tools to increase their empowerment and resilience
