Matt Fideler, LPC-A
Therapist
Life is hard, especially for young people. Our modern world is full of rules, rights, expectations
and experiences, all of which seem to be in a constant state of flux. Therapy can help young
people achieve balance, as they navigate the sea of possibilities that surrounds them. I believe
that by providing unconditional positive regard, embracing authenticity, respecting individual
perspectives, and seeking first to understand, then to be understood, I can help my clients
become the best versions of themselves.
My theoretical approach is driven by Multicultural Counseling and Solution-Focused Therapy. I
also incorporate elements of Motivational Interviewing, Reality/Choice Therapy and
Strengths-Based Therapy. This means that I have a high regard for the cultural experiences of
my clients, and I work with them to develop appropriate ways of thinking, feeling and behaving
that will help them achieve their goals.
Prior to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, I worked in special education
and adult human services for 15 years. I received my Master of Arts in Counselor Education
from The Ohio State University, and hold School Counselor (K-12) certifications in both Ohio
and Connecticut.
